4TH EDITION OF F-LIGHT: FLORENCE LIGHT FESTIVAL

This year's 4th Edition of F-LIGHT, Florence Light Festival will run from December 8-27, welcoming the holidays with a celebration of life and light in an evocative journey through the majestic squares of Tuscany's capital city. As the sun sets and the evening falls over Florence, visitors are invited to take a stroll through the city and rediscover it in a unique way. Innovative light installations, videomapping and projections will give a whole new interpretation to Florence's monuments. This year's F-LIGHT Festival takes on special meaning as 2015 is also the International Year of Light proclaimed by UNESCO. The city of Florence joins the world in this celebration of light, the source of universal energy. >>

The Grape Festival of Impruneta

With the end of summer right around the corner and the first cool breezes of autumn blowing across the hills, Tuscany welcomes harvest season while numerous grape and wine festivals color towns and villages with lively celebrations. This is a great time to visit Tuscany, Italy's most prestigious wine country, for wine and food lovers. The Festa dell'Uva of the town of Impruneta (just a 25 minute drive south of Florence) is one of the longest running in Italy. This year it will be held on Sunday September 27th in Piazza Buondelmonti, the main square of the village. >>

Siena's Il Palio Race: July 2 & August 16

Il Palio is a popular medieval bareback horserace around the sand-covered Piazza del Campo of the beautiful city of Siena. The race takes place twice every year on July 2nd and August 16th during which the city's various contrade compete for the banner dedicated to the Virgin Mary, known as il palio. The immense Piazza del Campo square is filled with costumed pageantry before the race and afterwards massive feasts are set up on long outdoor tables that can stretch for blocks on the side streets. Tickets for favored locations provided with seating can be quite pricy but a good view of the race can also be obtained from the middle of the piazza where a large crowd stands. >>

FLORENCE STREET FOODTRUCK FESTIVAL APRIL 10-12

The first annual ITALIAN STREET FOOD FESTIVAL in Florence will take place this weekend, April 10-12, 2015, at the Parco delle Cascine! After serving about 50,000 people in Rome, the festival will move north stopping in Florence for the first time. Besides the 28 trucks serving all kinds of foods from Northern Italy to Southern Italy there will also be live music, entertainment and workshops. 44th Edition of the Chianti Classico Expo Wine Festival

This year the the 44th Chianti Classico Expo takes place from Thursday September 11 through to Sunday September 14. The event draws thousands of wine experts and wine enthusiasts from all over the world, eager to get a tasting of the latest Black Rooster vintages and to talk to their vintners. Visitors can by a wine glass for 15 euros from the information booth which allows a tasting of 8 different wines. You can both buy and order wine and olive oil at each producer's booth. The open-air setting in Greve's beautiful square is unique and allows visitors to come in direct contact with the territory and its atmosphere. >>
